Alan Murphy hails from Dublin but now lives on a crow-infested housing estate in Lismore, County Waterford. He has published four self-illustrated collections of poetry for children and teenagers, and also produced a considerable amount of art and poetry for an adult audience. His recent poetry credits include Stony Thursday Book, The Madrigal, The High Window, and Poetry Bus. His visual art has graced the cover and inside of numerous poetry journal issues and been exhibited internationally. He is known for his collage and mixed media work, as well as for his experimental photography, and shares the same birthday as Matisse, being born one hundred years to the day after the painter. During covid he took up the guitar and, despite his inexpertise, has written a variety of songs on diverse subjects. He has also left a novel for young readers concerning vampires that play golf unfinished.
