Fiction Poetry Nonfiction Visual Art

Amanda Irene Rush writes memoir, short fiction, and poetry. Twice a week, she takes herself out on a coffee date and talks to a poem. First, printing the poem into her journal and then, free writing meditatively in and around and through the poem. It is, for her, a form of Lectio Divina. "Poetry is a gate and a guide," Amanda says. "'Talking' to poems in the way I do allows me to slow down, to be in the moment, and to commune with the Infinite." You can read her Wednesday edition of Conversations with Poems on Substack. You can also listen to her read them on Spotify and Apple Podcast. She is also the author of The Gathering Girl, a memoir published in 2023. When not writing or talking to poems, Amanda can be found counseling people in her part-time psychiatric nursing practice, playing chair volleyball at the YMCA, reading, or playing Spelling Bee. She lives in central Ohio with her husband and pets.
