Andy Friedlander Non-Member New My life is a creative processPoetry Visual Art Andy was born in New York City, trained at the Yale School of Drama as a Director and retired in 2010 after 40 years as a director, acting teacher and educator. He will turn 80 this year. Andy lives with Rose, his wife of 53 years, on 3 acres on a small river in the rural northwest of Washington state. They have 3 sons who have learned cope with the modern world in imaginative ways. He has performed as a folk/bluegrass guitarist and vocalist since the age of 16 and continues to play songwriters showcases and open mics. Andy has shown his paintings and block prints in juried shows throughout the northwest for past 20 years. His paintings are primarily abstract while his prints are primarily realistic. He has written plays and monologues throughout his time in the theatre and has, in the past 10 years, been writing poetry - specifically Haiku, Tanka and Haibun forms. His self-published book of poetry is called "I Stand Beside Me", Selected Haiku by Andy Friedlander.
