Poetry

Kirsten Cliff Elliot is a reader, writer, and librarian from NZ, now living with her husband in England’s North East. She was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and ME/CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) in 2003. Writing has helped her process the pain and loss, the depression and anxiety, and the move into middle age with chronic illness. Kirsten has been writing haiku and related forms for almost two decades. Her work has been placed in competitions and published worldwide in journals and anthologies, both online and in print, including A New Resonance 8: Emerging Voices in English Language Haiku (Red Moon Press, 2013) and her first collection Patient Property: A Journey Through Leukaemia (Velvet Dusk Publishing, 2019), which was shortlisted in The Haiku Foundation’s Touchstone Distinguished Books Award 2019. A Body of Work: Poems on Aging and Chronic Illness (Cuttlefish Books, 2026) has been described as “an important contribution to the reclamation of the contemporary disability narrative.”
