Cara Waterfall is a Canadian poet, storyteller, and mentor based in Zürich. Drawing on her experiences living and writing in Côte d’Ivoire and her engagement with Nouchi, the country’s dynamic urban language, her work explores language, place, migration, memory, and belonging across borders. Her debut collection, Radiant Wound (Unsolicited Press, 2025), explores language, memory, and postwar Abidjan; The Lost Stations is forthcoming from Ink & Ribbon Press in November 2026. Her poetry appears in Best Canadian Poetry, Room, The Night Heron Barks, and elsewhere. She is a four-time finalist for Radar Poetry’s Coniston Prize, was shortlisted for the CBC Poetry Prize, and has won Room’s Poetry and Short Forms contests. She is the founder of Archipel, a literary platform for creative conversation and mentorship, and the Donald E. Waterfall Scholarship, which supports emerging poets through year-long mentorship and financial support.
