Jenny Blackford’s poems and stories have appeared in Australian Poetry Journal, Westerly, Going Down Swinging and Best Australian Science Writing, as well as Asimov's, Strange Horizons and many more Australian and international journals and anthologies, including the venerable NSW School Magazine. Her poetry prizes include third in the prestigious ACU Prize for Literature 2014, and first place in the Thunderbolt Prize for Crime Poetry 2017, the 2021 Long Poem Rhysling Award, the Connemara Mussel Festival Poetry Competition 2016 and the Henry Lawson awards in 2014 and 2017, as well as many placings and shortlistings. Her third poetry collection from Pitt Street Poetry is The Alpaca Cantos, published just in time for lockdown. She won two prizes in the 2016 Sisters in Crime Australia Scarlet Stiletto awards, and another in 2024. Her spidery, ghostly middle-grade adventure The Girl in the Mirror won the 2020 Davitt Award for Best Children's Crime Novel.
