Writing about frontier Texas

Fiction

I hold an M.A. and Ph.D. in English from Miami University and teach in the Cincinnati public schools. After my father’s death in 2017, I inherited genealogical research revealing that my ancestors included some of the earliest Anglo settlers of Texas. My great-great-grandfather Asa Townsend arrived through Mexico’s empresario land-grant program before the Revolution. That discovery led to years of research in family histories, firsthand narratives, contemporary newspapers, and the historical record that became the foundation of this novel.
