Harriet Squier is a retired family practice physician with expertise in literature and medicine, where literature is used as a means to encourage empathy in practitioners. She has an MFA from the Naslund Mann school of writing at Spalding University with an emphasis on fiction and creative nonfiction. She has had stories and essays published in a variety of literary journals including Book of Matches, Plexus, Ars Medica, Gemini Magazine, JAMA, The Examined Life, Persimmon Tree, McSweeney's Internet Tendency, and others. She grew up in Vermont and now lives in Michigan.
