Crafting Seeds of Thought

Fiction Poetry Nonfiction

Kelly Sue Rothe, DO, is an integrative osteopathic family physician, educator, researcher, and writer whose work bridges science, story, and spirit. After co-publishing early neuroscience research at Cornell University and Harvard, Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, she founded Mountain Medical Arts in 2003 with support from the National Health Service Corps. For more than two decades she has practiced relationship-centered rural family medicine in Western North Carolina while teaching medical students, providing hospice and palliative care, participating in child-abuse evaluations, and developing community-based approaches to whole-person health. Her literary work draws on medicine, geology, mathematics, mythology, contemplative practice, food, family, and the natural world to examine how inherited systems of understanding can both constrain and liberate us.
