Lory Widmer Hess used to want to jump into the pages of her favorite fantasy novels, but now she settles for living in a fairy tale landscape — the beautiful Bernese Jura region of Switzerland — and writing about the magic in everyday life and the adventures of inner growth. Her poetry and essays have been published in print and online journals, and she is the author of When Fragments Make a Whole: A Personal Journey Through Healing Stories in the Bible (Floris Books, 2024). She loves writing because it helps her understand the world and herself from within a space of freedom and creative possibility.

She currently works in the weaving studio of a nearby residential home for adults with developmental disabilities, and also offers Compassion-Based Spiritual Direction, a listening space for those seeking to connect with their own inner wisdom.
