What I would like you to know about me are the words I carry, inside me live multi-generational stories that need to be told. It wasn’t that just one day I decided I was going to be a writer, but that there was simply a voice of life within that just needed to be heard. I believe that poetry/prose is the language of soul. There are things we can only say through verse, meanings that get lost on the tongue are captured in the written. It is a sense, a feeling – that resonance of heart. I write not just for my community but for that singular person, where perhaps one of my stories carry a small piece to their puzzle of existence. That maybe through a line which put what they’ve always felt into words just right, they were able to feel seen and loved.
