Michael J. Tews Jr. is an associate professor at Penn State University, where he studies workplace relationships, employee retention, and fun at work. He holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University and has published more than seventy scholarly articles. McThankYou is part of his first literary memoir, The Grade Stood. The Bird Honked. He lives in State College, Pennsylvania, with his partner and their golden conure, Zuko.
