Amy lived in Iowa for 17 years, where they taught creative writing and film at a small liberal arts college. Amy's passion for storytelling and a love for animals weaves through her visual and written art, whose subjects include the natural world, mental health, and the power of creativity in healing from trauma. Their essays on nature, horror, and mental health can be found in The Schooner, The Examined Life, The Bellevue Literary Review, Cultural Critique, and Supernatural Studies, among others. Amy’s artistic influences include the art Claude Cahun, Hannah Hoch, Romare Bearden, Kathy Acker, Stanley Kubrick, and Boards of Canada. When not writing, Amy loves to hike and take photos, swim, garden, and spend time with her partner and cat, Squeak.
