Richard Leis’s poems and stories have been published in The Deadlands, The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, The Molotov Cocktail, and Nightmare. His fiction also appears in anthologies from Crone Girls Press, House of Zolo, and Weird Fiction Quarterly, and his poetry in anthologies from Brigids Gate Press and Wising Up Press. He was runner-up for the Paulann Petersen Award for Poetry in 2024 and placed third in the Oregon Poetry Association’s Summer Poetry Contest in 2026. He was a finalist for the Tucson Festival of Books Literary Awards in 2018 and 2021. He was a Rhysling Award finalist in 2025 for his poem “We Carry Our Ghosts to the Stars” and in 2026 for “Los fantasmas en Su Boca.” His poems and stories have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. He works on an active Mars mission that takes high-resolution images of the Martian surface from orbit.
