In my time here, I have to do what I have to do.

Fiction Poetry Nonfiction

Sylvestre NSENGIMANA is a Rwandan multidisciplinary artist, poet, author, and director.

Founder of UMUT Arts Rwanda and U SPEAK LIVE, the country's first slam poetry collective, he has transformed Rwanda's spoken word scene into a platform for dialogue, solidarity, and peace.

He is the author of "The Journey," "Mu Rwanda," and "Tears In A Verse." His artistic contributions have received acclaim and support from institutions such as the African Culture Fund, Africalia Belgium, L'Espace, Institut Français du Rwanda, and the Goethe Institut Kigali.

Recognised by ArtLink Switzerland as one of 100 Global Artist Changemakers, a recipient of the Goethe Institut Mobility Grant (2026), and winner of the Future Awards Africa in Arts & Literature (2024), Sylvestre's spoken word artistry establishes him as a leading voice in contemporary African poetry.
