Susan Long’s stories have appeared in a variety of literary magazines, including Inkhorn Review; Half and One; Appalachia Bare; Still: The Journal; Appalachian Journal; Litmosphere: Journal of Charlotte Lit; Twisted Vine Literary Arts Journal; and Four Tulips Literary Magazine, where her short story, “Mountain Mermaid,” was named a finalist in its “Out At Sea” contest. Susan’s short story, “Oracle of Lady Elk,” is forthcoming in The Red Branch Review in fall 2026, and her creative nonfiction story, “Daddy’s Lunch Pail,” is forthcoming in Yellow Arrow Journal this November. Susan has written two novels, Blue Impala and The Illumination of Darkness. She is currently working on a collection: Oracle of Lady Elk and Other Stories. She holds a master’s degree in English from C.W. Post-Long Island University.
