I'm the Fairy who wrote on the Ferry

Nonfiction

Terry H. Jensen is a longtime essayist and observer whose writing grew out of a lifelong habit of finding stories in ordinary experience. He began writing features in college and subsequently spent much of his professional life as a business systems analyst—a career that may help explain his inability to encounter anything, from a computer system to a church organ bench, without wondering how it works and why someone decided to do it that way.

His essays draw on family history, decades of life in Northern California, commuting across San Francisco Bay, work, music, church life, technology, aging, gay experience, and the small absurdities of daily life. A longtime choral and church musician as well as a professional analyst, Jensen brings both worlds—and the occasionally peculiar intersections between them—to his writing. Fairy on the Ferry is his first book-length essay collection.
