Interview with Todd Epp

Who are your literary (or artistic) heroes?

John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway, William Blake, and Joyce Carol Oates.

How much of a typical day (or week) are you able to dedicate to your creative work?

1-2 hours

How do you celebrate your successes, such as acceptances? How do you handle rejections and other setbacks?

Tell my wife and friends, then start working on the next submission.

How much time do you spend reading for pleasure or edification?

Half hour/day

Do you have a personal creative style? How would you describe it?

Plains Minimalism

Where do you find inspiration?

From my own experiences, from my families' experiences, writing contests, and online writing workshops.

What fictional character would you most like to be?

Nick Adams or Tom Joad

If you could choose to be born in any era, which one would you choose and why?

This one. One must live in the present.

What advice would you give to a young, budding writer (or artist) with less experience than yourself?

Expect lots of rejections, you won't pay the rent being a creative writer, revise your work, and keep learning about your craft.

For your first draft (or sketch), do you prefer analog or digital tools, or a mix?

Digital

What would you like your epitaph to say?

He gave a damn.
