Alan Reuther is the author of "Roy Reuther and the UAW: Fighting for Workers and Civil Rights" (Michigan State University Press, 2025), which was named a notable book by the Michigan Historical Society. He has also had a memoir essay published by Adelaide Literary Journal.

Reuther received a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. He served as the Legislative Director for the United Auto Workers Union for nineteen years, before retiring in 2010.
