Annette Sisson’s poems are published in Birmingham PR, Penn Rev RockPaperPoem, Rust and Moth, Sky Island Jrn, ONE Art, West Trade Rev, and other journals and anthologies. Her second book, Winter Sharp with Apples, was published by Terrapin Books (2024), and her third book manuscript, Rhizomes and Bones, was Runner-Up in the Cider Press Book Award (2025). Her first, Small Fish in High Branches, was published by Glass Lyre Press (2022). She won The Porch Writers’ Collective’s poetry prize (2019) and in 2024 and 2025 was a finalist for the Charles Simic Poetry Award. Her poems have placed in other contests, including Frontier New Voices, The Fish Prize, Passager Poetry Prize, Lascaux Review’s Poetry Prize, the LemonLight Prize/Anthology, River Heron Review Poetry Prize and also RHR’s Editors’ Prize. Over a dozen of her poems have been nominated for The Pushcart and Best of the Net. She was a Scholar at the Sewanee Writers’ Conference in 2021 and was selected to participate again in 2026.
