Short stories, close and personal

Fiction

Julian Hickman is a father of five children, husband, writer, and traveler. A native of the Shenandoah Valley, he wrote painfully bad poems for years until finally winning the first prize in a local contest, which he won three years in a row. He switched to short stories, mining the dark and sometimes funny depths of his Southern family, with its mental illness, passions, and bourbon. When they are not traveling, he and his wife live with their sweet Border Collie in an old house on a busy corner where people walking past frequently stop to admire his wife’s flowers.
