Kevin J Mackey is native Irish, lived in the far drier climate of the San Francisco Bay Area for almost twenty years, and now lives in the Northeast in Massachusetts. He reads widely—"whatever may be found between book covers"—but has a particular fondness for science fiction and poetry. He is seldom without his camera phone often matching poetry with photos. His collection of photographs and haiku "Haiku — Through a Lens" is available online. His "Goldberg Variations", 30 variations on a theme of Mother/Daughter relationships, is available from Draft2Digital and other on-line sellers.
He has had short stories and poetry published between 2010 and 2026 and recently in a poetry anthology published by Bards Against Hunger Kansas City in 2025.
