Maura LoMonico is an essayist whose work explores women, power, identity, and the tangled dynamics of relationships across generations. Her recent work appeared in Newsday.
In her early career, Maura was a digital editor and producer for Discovery Channel Online, Britannica.com, and NBCOlympics.com.
Her essays and cross-genre stories are rooted on Long Island, where she lives with her daughter Ella, often finding inspiration strolling its beaches, cemeteries, and Gold Coast estates.
Maura earned an M.A. in writing from Johns Hopkins in December 2025, where her thesis focused on women and power. She also holds a B.A. in nonfiction writing from Johns Hopkins University and in music history from the Peabody Conservatory.
When she isn’t writing in her head, Maura advises corporations through Keep It Human, her technology consulting practice focused on human-centered problem-solving.
