Miguel O. Mitchell, PhD (he/him) is an award-winning Black speculatve poet, SFF author, vidsual artist, sand retired chemistry professor. His poems can be found in Dreams & Nightmares, Eye to the Telescope, FIYAH, Sauuti Terrors anthology, Scifaikuest, Space & Time, Star*Line, and other venues. His science fiction novel-in-verse, Surrealia, won second place in the 2025 Elgin Awards for Best Full-length Speculative Poetry Book, sponsored by the Science Fiction & Fantasy Poetry Association (SFPA). His most recent book of speculative poetry is Lounging with Strange (Gnashing Teeth Publishing, 2026). As an active SFPA volunteer, Miguel has been Halloween Readings Chair, Dwarf Stars Chair and Co-chair, and Elgin Awards Co-chair. He is also Editor-in-Chief and publisher of SpecPoVerse: An International Journal of Speculative Poetry. In SFF prose, Miguel has published flash fiction and short stories in Dirty Magick Magazine, Fantasy (Psychopomp), Scarlet Leaf Review, and Space & Time.
