Most recently, she was published as the first place winner of the California Association's Teachers of English’s Essay Prize in their Fall 2024 issue, a piece she recognizes as the capstone of her twelve year career as a secondary school language educator. A life-long student, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Classical Languages with minors in English and American Indian Studies from San Diego State University in 2009.
