Timba Bema is a Cameroonian poet, short-story writer, and novelist originally from Douala and currently based in the Geneva region. He began writing poetry at the age of twelve.
His work explores memory, identity, family, exile, political violence, and the lasting effects of colonial history. Deeply influenced by African oral traditions, he is especially interested in forgotten voices and in the ways language can preserve both personal and collective memory.
He mainly writes in French, but he also writes in English, which is his second language. Through poetry and fiction, he seeks to connect intimate human experiences with the social and historical realities of contemporary Africa.
