NINETENTHS Press is part traditional curatorial project and part meditation on the inevitability of failure and loss. Often times it feels like 90% (or more) of the things we attempt end up not working out, are rejected, just fall short, less than satisfy. Some failures are preventable, others necessary. Some are personal, others societal, but most are calcifying explorations on the way to the truest versions of ourselves. While we are looking for art and writing that border on experimental, we hold a special place for biographical accoutrements that focus on the foundational instances in our lives that are oft overlooked in our obituaries. We desire for these dips into the underbelly of living and making to act as a collective group therapy; to dial up the empathy, tune out the ego, access the flow state, get out of the head space of “never enough” and do, do, do.
