Mystery (especially proper whodunits; bonus points for fun, close-quarter settings). Thriller (twisty, suspenseful, but no cop protagonists). Upmarket women's fiction (preferably without a marriage- or children-related focus). Science fiction (no space operas). Fantasy (and magical realism). Horror (the scarier the better). Graphic novels (especially where the form adds further layers to the story). Lastly, for YA, she's most looking for a combination of light and dark elements and stories where the protagonist is compelled to change.
