Kate Moody

An agent with Transatlantic Agency (see other agents at this agency).

About

Kate Moody has joined as Assistant to Samantha Haywood and Assistant Agent. Kate was formerly at The Rights Factory and will be selectively sharing clients with senior agents as she apprentices at the Transatlantic.

Kate’s background is in events, marketing, and non-profit work. She has degrees in Criminology and Sociology from Western University, complemented by a diploma in Special Events Management from George Brown College. Driven by her passion for books, literacy, and education, she founded the Moody Family Foundation in 2023, which provides charitable grants to support education and literacy programs in Ontario’s York Region. Apart from reading, she enjoys being active, cooking, traveling, spending time with her friends, family, and two doodles.

Kate is looking to represent commercial to upmarket adult fiction and non-fiction. She is seeking authors with strong platforms in non-fiction, including true crime, narrative, journalism, memoir, sports, current affairs, and pop culture. In fiction, she is particularly interested in thrillers, psychological thrillers, family sagas, and stories that are dark, twisty, and complex. Kate is also drawn to authors whose exceptional writing can stand above a platform, as well as those who skillfully bend genres and execute multi-POV narratives with precision.

Agent Impersonation Scams are becoming commonplace.
A legitimate agent will not contact you and request money to represent you. Never pay an agent an up-front fee. That is not how literary agent representation works. Agents earn a commission only after they've landed a publishing deal for you. Also, agents scarcely ever contact writers. If an agent that you haven't queried contacts you about representation, be suspicious. Look up the agent and check if the email address is correct for that agent/agency.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the agent/agency meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the agency/agent.
  • Unless the agency's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For agency submissions, it is standard to submit a query letter and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
