Prior to the opening of SCL, Katie Bircher (she/her) worked closely with Sara at Pippin Properties as a freelance editor and manuscript evaluator. She spent nine years as an editor and staff reviewer for The Horn Book’s publications and served as chair for the 2018 Boston Globe–Horn Book Award committee. Katie also has more than seven years of experience as an indie bookseller specializing in children’s and YA literature and holds an MA in Children’s Literature from Simmons University.
Katie can most often be found lost in a good book with a tuxedo cat napping beside her.
