Zoë Pagnamenta

An agent with Calligraph Literary Agency (see other agents at this agency).

About

Zoë Pagnamenta co-founded Calligraph after fifteen years of running her own eponymous agency. Prior to 2008 she managed the New York office of Peters, Fraser & Dunlop for four years, and worked in the US and UK for the Wylie Agency. Zoë’s interests are wide-ranging; she represents non-fiction – history, memoir, biography, narrative journalism, “big idea” books and business titles as well as self-help and spirituality. She also represents some literary fiction. Her roster of wonderful writers includes Hisham Matar, Edmund de Waal, Stephen Greenblatt, Prentis Hemphill, Adam Nicolson, Priya Parker, Rebecca Solnit, Tom Vanderbilt, Craig Steven Wilder and many others.

In addition to her US clients, Pagnamenta works closely with several UK agencies and represents many writers in North America on their behalf, including the historian Peter Frankopan, the biographer Hermione Lee, the mathematician Marcus du Sautoy, the economist Tim Harford and the philosopher and writer Alain de Botton.

Zoë sits on the Advisory Committee for the Cundill Prize, and is a Fellow of the New York Institute for the Humanities. She is a past President of the board of the Young Vic in America and has served on the Brooklyn Literary Council. She is a member of the Association of American Literary Agents.

Agent Impersonation Scams are becoming commonplace.
A legitimate agent will not contact you and request money to represent you. Never pay an agent an up-front fee. That is not how literary agent representation works. Agents earn a commission only after they've landed a publishing deal for you. Also, agents scarcely ever contact writers. If an agent that you haven't queried contacts you about representation, be suspicious. Look up the agent and check if the email address is correct for that agent/agency.
