After/Ashes: A Camp Fire Anthology A project of WordSpring Permanently Closed: This project is permanently closed to submissions (February 2019). We provide the following information as an archive. About We are looking to publish visual art (photos, drawings, etc.) as well as creative writing (essays, poems, and short stories) that deal directly with the events and aftermath the Camp Fire, the most destructive and deadly fire in California history, which swept Butte County in November 2018. We are seeking photos and stories of not just devastation, but also rebuilding; not just death, but also rebirth; loss, as well as growth; trauma as well as reconnection; stories and art featuring both immediacy and recollection; stories that signal not just the end, but a beginning. Our goal is to generate a collection of work that tells our stories, provides hope, and gives a home to the art borne out of the trauma of the event and its aftermath.
