Balaustine: An Anthology about Wanting Family

About

Family comes in all shapes and sizes. While stories of parenting and childhood are relatively common, it’s very unusual to read about the other side of this desire for children. As we looked for these stories, we found ourselves wondering: where are the stories of wanting? The poems of loss? The stories of creating your own kind of family? We envisioned this anthology serving two purposes: to connect with and give comfort to those going through similar situations, and to bring these topics out into the general conversation. Why is it still taboo to talk about miscarriage and infertility when we are able to talk about almost any other kind of loss and desire? After all, what is writing if not the sharing of our deepest desires, losses and joys?
