Being Home Anthology

A project of Madville Publishing (see other related projects).

Permanently Closed: This project is permanently closed to submissions (August 2020). We provide the following information as an archive.

About

Being Home is about the spirit of place, the juncture of memory and emotions. It is different for everyone; it is different for members of the same family, and it most likely has nothing to do with where you were born or grew up. Award-winning essayists Sam Pickering and Bob Kunzinger will edit this anthology. They are looking for essays about being home where setting becomes character, where time becomes the antagonist, and where we make our most important discoveries. The editors are NOT looking for any quarantine, stay in place, Covid-19 essays, though this event might be a motivation, it should not be a presence in the essay.

Fees Notice: This project charges fees (or requires purchases) for all submissions. (Note: About 10% of anthologies always charge fees.)

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
