In these modern post-Hobbit days, it is high time we as a culture acknowledged one simple truth: dwarves can, in fact, be smokin’ hot. From the deep, rich and remote places of the world come legends of these fascinating beings: earthen men and women, fae kings, great metal workers and miners, mighty warriors, they are compact but virulent mythological figures. Send me stories of your dwarven nobility, cloaked in jewels dug from the heart of the earth, balancing their riches with their lust for flesh. Send me miners and tinkerers, digging through the mighty rivers of ore, alone in the dark … or with another. Send us star-crossed love across the races, or faerie tales retold. Dwarves appear in high fantasy, urban fantasy, steampunk, cyberpunk, magical realism and more. Love is not always young, and tall, and willowy, and beautiful. Love can be robust, hearty, hardworking, bearded and short. And still beautiful, in its own way.
