Just So Stories A project of 18thWall Productions (see other related projects). Permanently Closed: This project is permanently closed to submissions. We provide the following information as an archive. About Best Beloved, have you ever wondered why the whale has such a small throat? Why the elephant has a long nose? Why cats are jerks? In 1902, Rudyard Kipling answered these questions in a collection of fables. Kipling’s Just So Stories answered many of life’s questions, but they created so many more. He tells how the first letter was written, but what was the first story? The elephants trunk was lengthened by a hungry crocodile, yes, but where did that sly reptile learn to cry? Or, perhaps, you will take up pen and answer new questions. Who builds my dreams? Where does the Internet end? Why are cats still jerks? That is where you come in, Best Beloved. Take up where Kipling left off and tell us the tale of why everything is Just So.
