More than Marriage A project of Ooligan Press (see other related projects). Permanently Closed: This project is permanently closed to submissions. We provide the following information as an archive. About Ooligan Press seeks creative nonfiction and personal essays from LGBTQ writers of the Pacific Northwest for the anthology More than Marriage (working title). Edited by Carter Sickels, this anthology will add fresh voices to an ongoing conversation about what queer equality looks like. Even with the legality of gay marriage gradually becoming a reality in the U.S., pressing concerns for members of the LGBTQ community remain. These include, but are not limited to, experiences with race, gender, healthcare, employment, immigration, and aging; new definitions of family and partnerships that extend beyond nuclear or monogamous traditions; queer definitions of home; the fight against harassment and violence; and the many explorations of visibility and equality. We seek diverse perspectives and strongly encourage trans* writers, writers of color, and rural and working class writers to submit. Please send us your best work.
