About

During Chicago's explosive green summers, Lake Michigan seems to impress its character and prominence all over the city. In winter, the lake is something (somewhere) different. Pebble seeks creative non-fiction writing about visiting Chicago's Lake Michigan shoreline in winter. Why do we go to the lake, and what do we find there? What kinds of change do we witness along it? How do the lake's water, plants, and wildlife behave in cold weather? How does the lake in winter make contact with other parts of our city and lives? Pebble hopes to assemble a catalog of different voices, featuring the surprising, the human, the observant, the lyrical.
