Quillkeepers Press Summer Solstice Anthology A project of Quillkeepers Press (see other related projects). Permanently Closed: This project is permanently closed to submissions (March 2021). We provide the following information as an archive. About Quillkeepers Press is compiling an anthology in honor of and to celebrate the Summer Solstice. The summer solstice marks the first day of summer in the northern hemisphere. It is the longest day of the year, whereafter the days become gradually shorter. The word “solstice” comes from Latin solstitium from sol meaning Sun and stitium meaning still or stopped. There are many ways to celebrate the Summer solstice. One popular way is to gather at Stonehenge and many first hand accounts claim there is a special energy present on that day. Here at Quillkeepers we would like to honor such a glorious event by celebrating summer inspired literary works that celebrate warmth and light. We are looking for poetry, prose poetry, short stories and photography depicting a summer theme. Send us your work about summer lovin', vacations, long days on the beach, escaping the summer heat in the northern pines, flip flops, crop tops, bikinis, swim trunks, wetsuits, bbqs, picnics, and everything between. Fees Notice: This project charges fees (or requires purchases) for all submissions, and they do not offer monetary payment for accepted submissions.
