About

What is a woman? What makes a woman, her? Is she a woman when she gets sick? Is she a woman when cancer invades and she feels her only solution is to have her breasts removed or her womb or her ovaries? Can she BE a woman without her womb? What if her hair turns grey or becomes brittle or thin? What if she begins to go bald? Surely a balding woman is no longer a woman! Is she a woman when her firm breasts begin to sag? When she is crisscrossed with stretch marks and scars? When she shows moles and spots which continue to darken? What happens when she grows facial hair? Is she then a woman? If her voice is husky and low, can she still be a woman? What happens when the same vagina which allowed her children to pass, now no longer holds her bladder and uterus in their proper places, but relaxes so that those organs begin to loosen their grip and slip down? Is she still a woman then? Can she be a woman if she has no desire for children, no maternal need? What if she desires those children but her womb is closed, unwilling or unable to create the life she longs to bring forth? What then? What is she now? Is she a woman? What IS a woman? Who will forgive the unforgivable? To not fit the cookie cutter shape of WOMAN. Whose eyelashes must be long and whose lips must be full. Whose hips must curve not too little or too much. Whose breasts must be perky and firm and aimed the correct way. Whose hair must be thick and luxurious. Whose skin must be soft and hairless. Who will love and desire and hold and caress and lift up and adore and make love to such an imperfection? Who? Tell me? What IS a woman?
