Rachel Sutcliffe Memorial Haiku-arts Contest A project of Drifting Sands About The world lost a gifted poet and indomitable spirit in Rachel Sutcliffe, on January 23rd, 2019. What it did not lose is the impact she had on the people she touched and the body of work she left behind. Time leaves its mark on everything; some people leave their mark upon time. Rachel was one such person. The challenge for Drifting Sands (a haibun and tanka prose journal) was how to honor Rachel (a haiku/senryu poet) without turning the journal into a haiku journal. Here’s what we came up with:For each photo, you may submit one haibun (that means, you may submit up to four haibun). We’re limiting this to haibun as it is the form that incorporates haiku and embodies the haiku spirit. No Fees! This contest does not charge mandatory fees.
