About

We are partial to the writer whose distinct voice is emotionally accessible and daring. We discourage writers from sending material that is victim-ridden, pedagogic, preachy or sentimental. Works that function as soapboxes for political causes are unacceptable. The press publishes 5 to 6 books each year through one of the five imprints: Emerging Voices, works from early or mid-career poets; Notable Voices, works of established poets of merit and distinction; Memoir, memoirs of writers keeping with the theme Lives Brought to Life; LaurelBooks, fine collections of poetry and prose that explore the many poignant issues associated with confronting serious physical and/or psychological illness; Florenz Eisman Memorial Collection, work from a New Jersey writer in honor of CavanKerry’s first Managing Editor.

Fees Notice: This project charges fees (or requires purchases) for all submissions, except for a limited number of fee waivers for those who need financial assistance.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For book publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
