About

Writing Knights was developed in 2009 by Azriel Johnson just after he became homeless. Writing Knights started as a freelance writing outfit where he was able to make enough money to stay in a storage unit over the winter of 2009-2010. Once he recovered from being homeless, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio and started participating in the poetry scene. He saw his first chapbook and went to his first events and thought, "Hey, I can do this" and created his first chapbook "Hellfire, Heavensent." After realizing how easy chapbook creation was he formulated a plan and enlisted 5 fellow poets to release chapbooks with his new, independent, Writing Knights Press.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Just remember…

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For book publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
