About

We Are A Website was born after one of us stole a copy of The White Review from a cafe. After reading it from cover to cover, a malformed-by-naivete thought took shape: "How hard could it be to run a literary journal?" Over steak, sushi and wine, we hashed out the details. What do we put out? (Whatever we like, whenever we like.) Should we have an art section? (Yes.) Would we look at food pictures if people submitted those? (No, we will most adamantly not.) The one thing we could all agree on: To be open-minded about what a short story, poetry and good writing is. We believe in not foisting false advertising on anyone. Hence the name. (We also take things too far, sometimes.) Based in Singapore, we hope to give Singaporean writers and artists an exciting but unpretentious platform. But we also want to hear from the rest of the world. We strive to be encouraging, even in our rejection slips. Most of all, as writers and word addicts, we want to read your work and, hopefully, work with you to improve - or champion! - it.
