About

We at Arcus Publishing felt that the literary business has gotten to be a little bit too much about who you know and not enough about what you can do. So we launched Arcus as a company that would be primarily interested in helping writers and being a community of writers, rather than being a total guard. We still look for quality, but we try to ignore all the other factors that seem to go into whether or not your short story gets published (name, for example). At its core, Arcus Publishing is really just four writers who decided to blow everybody’s mind and try to start a literary business actually interested in developing relationships with its contributors.

Fiction Believed Defunct

We will publish in our literary magazine works of prose, but be sure to go light on the pretentiousness. We like stories that keep us interested, are well-constructed, have sympathetic characters, and avoid needless experimentation. An experimental work will be considered, but very carefully.

Poetry Believed Defunct

Our magazine will feature its poets, giving each published poet a spotlight consisting of 3 – 5 works, totaling no more than six pages. As such, poetry submissions should reflect this spotlight approach in our magazine. An exemplary portfolio longer than this will still be considered, but we will not consider individual poems for publication. We are a fan of poems that have meaning and don’t suck, but if you’re the best flarf poet in the world… maybe.
