ANMLY

A project of Anomalous Press (see other related projects).

We list other projects with similar titles. Please check that you report any submissions under the correct listing.

About

ANMLY is an international journal of literature and the arts. We provide a platform for works of art that challenge conventions of form and format, of voice and genre.

ANMLY is committed to actively seeking out and promoting the work of marginalized and underrepresented artists, including especially people of color, women, queer, disabled, neurodivergent, and gender nonconforming artists. We recognize that, as Kazim Ali wrote brilliantly to Aimee Nezhukumatathil: “The notion of an unbiased concept “literary merit” is an inherently and inescapably racist principle. An institution that relies on it is by definition a white supremacist institution.” ANMLY recognizes that aesthetics are not neutral, and that difference tends to be marginalized.

ANMLY is committed to encouraging experimentation in the arts.

ANMLY believes in the importance of compensating artists for their work, and we are working toward financial sustainability, which will allow us to compensate our contributors and our editorial staff for their work.

ANMLY focuses on especially innovative and experimental literature and arts. ANMLY is run by an entirely volunteer staff, dedicated to literature and art and the internet (well, more like literature and the art on the internet, but we’re fans of the medium, too).

Fees Notice: This project charges fees (or requires purchases) for all submissions, except for those with financial hardship, Black/Indigenous, or Palestinian-descent submitters. (Note: About 8% of magazines always charge fees.)
The fee is USD $3 (average for magazines that charge).
Important: They may accept submissions for "folios" outside of their general submission periods, which may also be restricted to specific demographics. As always, check their site for full details.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
