Arch Literary Journal

This project is believed to be defunct. (March 2013)

About

Arch, like most online literary publications, is dedicated to publishing the most truly exceptional writing that comes our way, and in so doing, providing an outstanding platform for both new and established writers. But for us, that sentence needs to be broken down a bit. We mean something very unique when we say that we are a literary publication. We are not a review. We’re a journal, but not in the classical sense of the word. We’re not interested in simply showing you the best 15 things that came into our submission pile that month, or that quarter, or even that year. Instead, in each issue, we publish only one truly exceptional example of writing (or one truly exceptional collection of writings by one author), whenever it comes to us. Just one. If we receive 20 truly exceptional texts in a week, we’ll publish each of them, one at a time, in their own issue. If we don’t receive a text we find to be truly exceptional for months, then we won’t publish for months. Publishing irregularly allows us to bring you only the absolute best writing we receive and to give it the space it deserves. We really believe incredible writing deserves this platform, and we believe that it’s worth waiting for.
