About

Barge Journal seeks literature that is against the literary. We want and need to read writing from writers who have spent the time honing their craft and have thrown it out the window. We want stuff that doesn't look like what you're taught to do and expect (which is why we don't want things.) Stuff that's a little outlandish, a lot outlandish. Stuff that takes risks. Stuff that's built to be a little more difficult than the norm, like, for real growed-ups with actual brains they use frequently and well. We are always creating a new lexicon to describe what we want, because the old one smells funny.
