About

Fantasy and sci-fi fiction is often somewhat concerned with worlds that are slightly different to our own: perhaps it’s a world much like ours, but the government weeds out crime by feeding its citizens mind-altering drugs. Perhaps dragons roam the streets alongside their human owners, or some kids are born with magical abilities and are shipped off to specialised institutions to learn to control them. But what of the doors that lead to these worlds? Science suggests that our universe is one of many separated by a membrane as thin as tissue paper. Folklore speaks of the worlds beyond our own, the domains of faeries and spirits, and if one stumbles into these places one can never go home. We want these stories; we want tales of wayward travellers, strangers in strange lands, whether they tumbled down a rabbit hole or tore a doorway through dimensions by the power of science. What new sights and laws of nature await them? What trouble do they encounter? Do they ever find their way home? It is important to keep in mind that doorways may not always be physical. Doorways can exist in the mind just as they can exist in the physical world.
