What does it mean to be a black woman? black(ness) as defined by the diaspora; woman as defined by dichotomies; artist as defined by you. black girl seeks is a biannual literary magazine accepting poetry, art, fiction, non-fiction, and music from black women. It is published in January and June. black girl seeks is about how black women move in the world. We want work that’s as heartbreaking as our lives can be and we want work that uplifts the soul. We seek work that speaks truths and volumes. We seek work that is masterful in its subtlety and work that isn’t subtle at all. We want work that makes us feel. We want what’s real. So, shine your light and bring your darkness. We want you at your best and at your worst.
